Box office: 'Pain & Gain' benches $20 million but 'Iron Man 3' is the real heavy-lifter Michael Bay's "Pain and Gain" starring Dwayne Johnson and Mark Wahlberg took in a solid $20 million at the domestic box-office in its debut weekend, good enough for No. 1 over Tom Cruise's "Oblivion" and the star-studded rom-com "The Big Wedding," which flopped hard with a gross of only $7.5 million. The real box-office story this weekend was Marvel's "Iron Man 3," which powered its way to a huge $195.3 million gross in foreign markets ahead of its domestic launch.
